ABOUT
Courtenay Patlin
LMFT
why therapy with courtenay?
I work with clients who are looking to find more gentleness and ease in areas of their lives where there is great pressure.
In addition to supporting clients with perfectionism and anxiety, I specialize in working with clients dealing with eating disorders, disordered eating and body image issues.
I have intensive clinical experience from my position as a primary therapist at Center for Discovery treatment center, as well as education in Intuitive Eating and Health at Every Size.
about me.
As an actor and an athlete for many years, I understand the inward pressure that sports and creativity can put on us, and how wanting to be “great” at something can breed perfectionism.
Before my journey into the clinical world, I received my Bachelor’s degree in Communication with an emphasis on film and television development, from California Lutheran University. I explored many avenues of the entertainment industry, both behind the screen and in front. I also grew up in the competitive arena of showjumping.
I received my Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University Los Angeles in 2021. During my clinical training, I received psychodynamic, depth-oriented training at Counseling West in Sherman Oaks, where I worked with adolescents and women seeking relief from anxiety, depression, trauma, and eating disorders.

Therapy Approach
Courtenay has been trained in psychodynamic therapy which leans on the idea that an understanding of the past can support clients in influencing their present experience. She also believes that the therapeutic relationship is the model for experiencing healthy relationships in one’s outside life.
